Ground Preparation & Installation Procedure
We remove the grass, weeds and vegetation down 4 inches from our desired finished grade. We remove any bumps, roots, rocks, sticks or any other debris to ensure a flat, compacted surface. Crushed rock is spread and compacted to act as a leach bed for water to quickly percolate down into the soil. Decomposed granite is then spread and compacted over the crushed rock to produce a solid sub-base for the turf that allows water to drain through it into the soil. Before installing the turf, it is important that the sub-base is smooth and firm.
The finished, compacted surface is 1/2 inch below the surface of the bordering patio, walkway, driveway or any solid step or pad. This produces a life-like reveal to the edge of the turf and avoids risk of tripping on an edge.
A 20 year, high density weed barrier is nailed down over the installation site with 5 inch spikes and we glue the turf to this weed barrier.
Before stretching and gluing the turf to the weed barrier, we make sure the nap is running in the same direction. Our installation procedure assures perfect, invisible seams. We use a commercial grade adhesive applied about one inch from the seam and edges for long lasting strength and durability.
